After sleeping in later than I should have, scott and I had the joyous experience of nearly getting stood up by the rather contentious client. Eventually, things got worked out, but not before some hard negotiations that involved a little bit of "chown -R root.root * ; chmod -R 700 *". Rarely does it come to that, but this time, it did. (Yep, same client as before. This is one of those that you're glad when it's over.)
scott and I dug through our records to figure out exactly what he owes me for the past few months. We agreed that we both need to figure out a better record keeping system, which led into a discussion of [some mythical project] which we are both getting relatively excited about.
With a bit of money coming in from clients, he says he'll be able to pay me Very Soon. Then we start at zero again.
This is a good thing, because this morning, a not-so-pleasant reminder came in the mail. I have car insurance premiums coming due again soon. If anything could be called a goddamn scam operation, it's state-mandated insurance that costs an arm and a leg. Grrrr...
I'm thinking I'll attend BLUG tonight. I haven't been to that in ages. But since the scheduled speaker is going to talk about consulting, I might learn some good things there that might be relevant for me in the very near future.
