Fueled by optimism?

The past few days, I've been working on various pseudo-work on projects related to the ever more insane buildmeasite ventures. (Buildmeasite is a wholly owned subsidiary of x13.com, don't you know it?).

Sometimes, scottgalvin.com and I have this strange way of working each other up into strange fits of excited, hype-filled glee, more befitting of the long lost late 90's boom times than the dreary, recession-ridden new economy. Nevertheless, we charge on in our insanity. Whether this is a good or a bad thing is still up for debate.

During last Monday night's mass irc, Jaeger asked an offhand question to which I did not immediately know the answer. It was something I should have known, and it bugged me, so I went googling. In the process, I discovered that unbeknownst to me, Enigma had released a new record a couple months ago, and it had somehow completely slipped under my rader.

(The answer to the question, by the way: Carmina Barina (O'Fortuna).)

On Tuesday, I wandered into the Temptation Zone to see about acquiring Voyageur, and found it easily. (They also had LSD, but since I have all the other Enigma albums, I already have most of that music, and I'm not enough of a true fan to buy it again in new packaging).

Browsing around the DVD section, I also noticed that (among other exciting items) the Hercules Season 2 set is out. I was extremely tempted to buy it, but ultimately, I resisted this second temptation. I'll wait until I can legitimately finance the purchase without expanding my portion of America's overwhelming consumer debt bubble.

At least I'm semi-responsible, fiscally speaking.

Anyway, I've been enjoying Voyageur immensely. Michael Cretu et all venture into new realms of electronic bliss, while still retaining that signature Enigma feel. Favorite track at this point: Page of Cups. Sweet subtlety.

Anyway, back to hacking. And maybe some multiplayer kohan tonight. (Although I still find myself annoyed with Rygel's interface lag. Fast enough to be playable, but nerve wracking when the action is at its peak and it's a chore to get the mouse cursor to point where I want it to.) Oh well.

To optimism (guarded though it may be), and the future.
