Last night, we went to the airport and found that not only had bouncing's flight arrived early, but he was waiting for us with luggage in hand at the passenger pickup area.
Mom, dad, bouncing and I ate soup and sandwiches at the Laser Fortress, and finally got to bed sometime after 0100.
Mom worked a half day in the afternoon today. While she was there, bouncing and I wandered by the Laser Fortress and hung out for a while.
Finally, it seems that the threaded message system is being put to use in one of the primary ways I had envisioned when designing it. A nice big political flamewar. :)
(Ok, so it actually hasn't degenerated to the level of flames yet. But honestly, a good well reasoned debate is even better, though it might be slightly less entertaining to casual consumers.)
I was bummed to learn that Onyx has once again shut its doors. Thankfully, it is only temporary. Still, it sucks, because I was half-planning to head out there tonight. The reason? I quote from their web site....
I guess you could call it a nice holiday vacation, but legally I'm required to say that it's due to yet another liquor license violation...this time from back in May, believe it or not. This one was just a stupid, wrong-guy-in-the-wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time violation, where a non-employee who was watching the door for literally 5 minutes (while his girlfriend went potty) slapped a wristband on, of all things, an undercover, underage cop because he's too stupid to properly read an ID. Go figure.
Can we say "entrapment"? Yes, I knew we could. Stupid Colorado government. No good comes of such over-zealous enforcement of silly regulations. Punishing the many innocent for the dunderheadedness of the few. (Harmless dunderheadedness, but dunderheadedness nonetheless.) Plus, it sort of screwed my plans for the evening.
I gave bouncing a ride into Boulder, where he was meeting with a bunch of his former coworkers for the evening.
While there, I wandered into Target and purchased my first Christmas present of the year. For my dad. I hope he likes it.
He sometimes likes to go into he mountains to a place called "Peaceful Vally", where he can high center his car on the jeep road, and, well, hang out peacefully or something. So I bought him a portable folding recliner, complete with a cloth sack and a shoulder strap for easy transporting.
One down, two to go.
On the way out, I made a stop by the Video Station, where I rented Blue Velvet. I haven't actually watched it yet, but I will soon. (It was theoretically to be my replacement activity for the evening since I couldn't go clubbing, but I haven't actually been able to get myself into the "movie watching" mood yet. Soon though.)
I also made a stop by Safeway, where I bought supplies to make bean dip. The beans are soaking as I type. I'm theorizing that unless our family eats nothing but bean dip for the next week, there will be enough of it to last into the New Year. Hooray!
I'm gonna zone out to the music for a minute before I'm outta here. Zap.
