I find myself listening to Bush. No, not that Bush. I mean the not-so-evil Bush. The band that sold out years ago. (Exactly when depends on who you talk to.) With Gavin Rossdale. Yeah, that Bush.
Doh. Song is over now. Time for something else.
So you seek salvation. Then I must ask you this. What are you willing to give in return?
Tonight, we're opting for the disjointed nonsensical fragments of incoherent this and that, as a superior alternative to the depressed and eating shit off the floor theme of last time. I think it works better, don't you?
The world throws you craziness. I say throw the crazy right back out there!
I meant to link to this earlier, but I'm late. Sue me. Go Elusis! As far as rants go, it's in the hall of fame. Even better, what she says actually MAKES SENSE.
I just got an email saying the local Howard Dean campaign needs people to help out with the Pearl Street table tomorrow. I contemplate going there to help out. As well as helping spread the good word, it would probably be good for me to get out of my shell a little anyway. I'll have to see how energetic I am when I wake up in the afterno^H^H^H^H^H^H^H morning tomorrow.
Meanwhile, not to dilute my pro-Dean message (because Dean is decidedly the candidate I am backing for many reasons explained in previous entries), but I have also been impressed with Kucinich's words as he does his guest spot in Lessig's space.
Though I don't think he has a realistic shot at the presidency (using the same argument that some others have leveled at Dean: "Unelectable." But in this case, it's actually true.), it's good to see someone with that level of idealism actually giving it his best shot in a major party nomination. It raises the level of the overall debate. We need more congressmen like that. If people of his caliber were a majority in Washington, this country would be in much better shape.
Enough of politics.
Wait. I lied. One more link. I'm probably just preaching to the chior here, but anyone who still this this Iraq nonsense was a good idea should read what some of the parents say. "Support our troops" indeed. Also, if you can stand putting up with the crappy realplayer format, watch their c-span press conferenece. The most gut wrenching part was the father, a man would could barely speak english, talking about how he lost his son over there.
That, if for no other reason, is why we need a new president.
NOW, enough politics.
"I imagine you must be feeling a bit like Alice. Tumbling down the rabbit hole?"
Starving at a feast
and all this wine I've never tasted
On my lips your memory has been stained
Is it all in vain?
Tell me, who's to blame?
I can't take another night
Burning inside this
Hell is living without your love
aint nothing without your
touch me
heaven would be like
hell is living without you
nights get longer and colder
I'm down begging to hold you
On my own and I'm feeling like
Hell is living without you
Does this troll have a point?
it is not enough to stop listening. it is not enough to stop buying or stop downloading. we must turn our backs. we must forget about these things. this annihilation is the true beginning of the war on intellectual property. we must find our own alternatives. we must make our own music. we must seize the means of production, and make them fruitful. we must sing our own songs, make our own allusions, and write articles about them.
Right on, brotha! I'm with ya.
Now, where did I put all those Britney Spears oggs?
I think we've reached our link quota for the night.
But what about our nonsense quota? Have we reached that yet? I DON'T THINK SO.
There are so many different forms of nonsense one can produce. Perhaps someone should write an essay, or better yet, get a government research grant to study the subject! Nonsense. What are the different ways in which nonsense can be classified? How much nonsense, measured in volume, does a nation such as the United States produce each year? What do the trends look like? We needs graphs and powerpointy-haired presentations, dammit! Have we produced more nonsense this year than last?
What about under the Clinton administration? Did the country see a rise in the proliferation of nonsense during the 90s, or was there a shortage? These questions need answers, and they needs answers now. I propose that congress appoint a committee with at least one delegate from each state in the union to determine where we stand. Because after all, a nation that does not know where it stands cannot unite. And if we are not united, then we are divided. A house divided cannot rise to face the challenges of tomorrow. On that, at least, we can all agree, can we not?
no matter where you turn and stand
i have you where i want you
my order aims to take your land
nearly two thousand years
since i took the one who gave you hope
in his name i have become prince
my power lies beyond all scope
this world belongs to me
i swear to set you free
this world is my domain
i swear to bring you reign
i have you where i want you
And we have now reached and exceeded our lyric quota for the night.
But nonsense? What nonsense?
Nevertheless... This one must also be quoted, because it rocks, and I'm almost done here.
And smell what you can't see
Close your eyes, it's so clear
Here's the mirror
Behind there is a screen
On both ways you can get in
Don't think twice before you listen to your heart
Follow the trace for a new start
What you need and everything you feel
Is just a question of the deal
In the eye of storm you'll see a lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
to the gravity of love
The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom
Try to think about it
That's the chance to live your life and discover
What it is. It's's the gravity of love.
Look around, just people.
Can you hear their voice.
Find the one who will guide you to the limits of your choice.
But if you're in the eye of storm
Just think of the lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
to the gravity of love.
Rock. That's all for tonight.
