Let it snow!

Sunday, 12:30am, Tobias slippin' and slidin' down US 36 in the dark with near blizzard conditions, as snow continues to fall in front of the headlights. Straddlin' the lanes, no other vehicles in sight. I slam the brakes, and then hit the gas a few times, just for fun. Testing the conditions. The speedometer jumps from 40 to 0, then back up to 40. Hit the gas. It goes up to 60, and then I let it fall back down to around 40. Throughout it all, the car continues to move at a constant speed. This is what winter is all about.
Just the same, I'm glad I'll be off work tomorrow. The most driving I'm likely to do will be to shuttle myself back and forth between mom's place and here. Much easier than a commute to Boulder.
Somehow, I managed to remain oblivious to the Columbia disaster until 18 hours after the fact. On Saturday night / Sunday morning, I got off work, came here, and loaded Jaeger's web page. And there it was! jaegerfesting -- Colorado's first news source for the hopelessly out of touch.
Well, from there of course, every web site I visited that had been updated recently was talking about it. It's nutty. I still haven't turned on the tv to view a news report, so I guess I still feel somewhat detached from the whole thing. (These days, my tv is also known as "The box that sits in the corner gathering dust except when it's being used as a GameCube/DVD output device.")
I just had an idea for a new poll now, but maybe that's not such a good idea. Tasteless, maybe? Aw, heck with it. If people don't like it, they don't have to vote. (Or better yet, make an option for such people...) You can't say it ain't relevant though.
Alright, have nothing else of substance to say tonight, as if I ever did. I'll likely be in mass irc Monday night, if any of the usuals happen to drop by. (Or anyone else, for that matter.)
Keep it real. Peace.
