Spread the word: Beebles is alive and well!

I just had a really strange thought. What if Beebles the Legendary Elf ever happened to meet Tux the Mighty Penguin? Would they get along? Would they have a rivalry? Would they work together to spread world peace and good vibes to all? Or maybe they'd start up a condemn factory. The software to automate it would run on Linux, of course. But really, who's to say?

Brief catchup. Last night, a minor revision in plans occurred. The awful scifi viewing at the Boulder Compound was rescheduled (or actually, the originally planned schedule was restored) for Saturday night. I journied there and watched Battlefield Earth with Jaeger, Kiesa, and Captain Logan.

It was... pretty bad. Not so astoundingly bad that it deserved all the negative press attention, but pretty bad. Some of Travolta's redicilously overacted lines were the highlight of the spectacle. Also, for many portions, the audio for the dialog was around a half a second out of sync with the picture. Bad looping, or just some really goofy mixup in the mastering? Who's to say?

Anyway, I hung around at the Boulder Compound for a while after the movie. While Jaeger prepared the online release of the Bee-licking action video, Kiesa informed me (among other things) that Longview is NOT an example of a "Good Christian Town". It is, in fact, a town seething with rotten scoundrels, sin, villainy, drug abuse, and perversion (and unemployment). Very well. I stand corrected.

I'm going to head to the BLUG install fest in a few minutes, which I suspect will be interesting.

Other updates: Completed 8 scribbled pages of the first draft of my essay yesterday afternoon. Once I brought my mind back to the concept, the words just started flowing. I estimate that I got about a third of the first draft written. So assuming I continue to spend several hours on it per day (a dubious prospect), it might be done by mid-week.

Also, I have now placed a very rough resume online. This is pretty much the same thing I prepared to hand to the Sierra Club on Friday. I figured if anyone would have enough sense of humor to appreciate that last line item under the "Accomplishments" section, it would be them. That, and the last item in the programming languages, will probably be getting revised away soon though, so grab the funny version now while it's hot.

The reason it took me so long to even bother to put together any semblence of a resume was because I was thinking that I'd almost certainly get a job that involved filling out an "application" rather than a full resume. But I figure it wouldn't hurt to expand my reach, and a couple people have requested it. Hmmmm... I think I should get the "professionally revised version" together before I give it to them though.

Well, Installfest calls. My semi-daily trips to Boulder also seem to be taking a bit of a toll on Tobias's gas bill. One really begins to notice these things when the bank account is scraping the bottom.

But I love Boulder. And I seem to be fond of going to the downtown Denver area fairly often too. I guess I'm in the optimal location for both. Let's hope I get a job that allows me to keep it.

Now, on to the installfest, where I might be able to help some newbies, and maybe learn a few things myself. Here's to it.
