Alright. The location of that job I was going to go apply for wasn't so hot after all. I looked it up on mapquest. Northeast alright. Very east. East of DIA, in fact. Would that be better than no job? Well.... yeah. But only as a last resort.

I called the person I interviewed at my mom's company. Since they hadn't goten back to me, I figured it wouldn't hurt to at least try and see what might be up. So I called and politely asked.

Well, a prompt answer. My background check is being processed, and they should let me know next week. Very professional.

Although, I can't help but wonder if calling back to annoy them was a stupid move. Grrr... I guess it's one of those things where maybe one can do no right. Or you can't tell what's really the best thing to do. Call them back, and maybe it shows persistence (which is good). OTOH, maybe you're being an impatient bugger. Well, I am an impatient bugger, dammit!

Somehow, I suspect my landlord is going to be an impatient bugger too, if I don't show up with a rent check.

Naw, they were very cool. Very polite. And when I said, "Ok, thank you very much. See you again later."

The response: "Yes, certainly."

Could that be a clue that I'm on the hiring list? Maybe, just maybe? :)

Mostly because I feel like such a strung out idiot, I'm switching Argo back to the enlightenment window manager this afternoon. Switching window managers. It's a great way to deal with nervous tension. Or, if you just need a little bit of pick-me-up, try a different theme. This long-tested technique has been approved and recommended by doctors nationwide. :)

Maybe once I get it all tweaked, I'll put up some screenshots. Yay for useless fun!

(All who are in favor of the "total distraction" wallpaper may now signify that they are raising their hands via the NeoContent Solutions interface.)

Here's a crazy thought: Maybe I should write a script that changes my wallpaper based on how many hits my web server is getting. Yeah, that would rule! (Or it would just be strange.)

Anyway... happy weekend to those who are with jobs. And to those who are not... Well, try to enjoy the unemployment while it lasts. That's my motto now.
