The past two days were vacation. Yay!

Yesterday, I had the first meatspace encounter with a girl I had found online. (Or, to be more accurate, she found me online, since she made the initial contact via the net.) What a wacky experience that was!

In such a situation, you really have no idea what the other person is going to be like. You may think you'll know, but you don't. It's just a matter of going out on a limb to blindly jump, knowing that the worst that could happen is that you'll have a crappy time, won't like the other person, and part ways to never see each other again. (Well, there is the remote possibility that they could be a serial killer, but that's for another story.)

Well, she wasn't sure what she was going to think of me either. (Can you blame her? What would you think of someone who, when discussing favorite musical preferences, had included the names of both Marilyn Manson and Britney Spears in the list? What kind of psycho is this? lol.)

Well, we met. :)

If I attempt to describe our activities, it's going to sound really ridiculous. But here goes...

The outing consisted of wandering around for several hours. She drove. We went through several small towns, stopping in gas stations for newspapers, made our way into the foothills south of Loveland, and found a horse ranch, a creek, a few lakes, and some dirt roads. lol.

We had been thinking about going hiking, but didn't really find any good places in the area. So we just drove around. It was actually a fun adventure, driving in and around the mountains, talking about all sorts of random stuff along the way. (She did most of the talking, largely because of my lack of talkativeness, which actually worked out well.)

...

Last night, I got together with the parents to celebrate the 4th. We did not go to see the lack of fireworks this year. Instead, just hung out, ate pizza, and pondered my dad's crazy little iMac. Oh, and watched a couple of my TNG episodes. lol. Not exactly a traditional 4th of July.

Earlier this week, I bought the Pikman game for the Cube, since it had been marked down to $30. It was one of those games I had thought about getting back when it first came out, but never quite wanted to pony up the $50 they were asking back then. So anyway, when it was marked down this week, it jumped off the shelf at me, so to speak.

I'm trying to decide whether I want to go to the club tonight. Since I've been doing little else but alternating sleep and video gaming for most of the day, it seems like it would be a good idea to get out and do something else. (Ok, so I did also get out earlier this afternoon in order to use an obscure piece of stone age technology known as a "fax machine", since I had reached the deadline on getting a certain piece of information transmitted. Bitscape, the eternal procrastinator.)

The other thing I've been meaning to do this vacation weekend is get the collective revived. Yes, it has been out of order for way too long. This cannot stand. Hmmmm....

It occurs that since I have been doing a lot of sleeping between Pikman games today, I could conceivably invoke an ancient ritual known as "festing" tonight, during which I could get the Bitscape Web Productions stuff in order. Hmmmm....

To fest, or to club? Choices, choices. I suppose I could do one tonight, and the other tomorrow.

Oh, and I just remembered, there's also that meditation workshop session I was thinking about attending tomorrow, which starts in the morning. I'd like to do that too.

Ok, so here's a tentative plan:

  • Tonight, a mini-solo-fest. Not a full blown all-nighter, but a healthy chunk of coding time.
  • Tomorrow morning (provided I feel up to it), I'll journey to the Shambhala center to participate in the meditation.
  • I may do a hike tomorrow afternoon, depending on how things go.
  • Tomorrow night: dance at the club.
  • Sunday: Sleep and play Pikman. Maybe watch some DVD commentary tracks. Nothing ambitious whatsoever.
  • Monday: Back at work. Well, it will be a Monday. :)

As of now, that is the theoretical plan for the remainder of this holiday weekend. Now, let the impromptu solo festing commence!
