Sometime around 2200, Bitscape might have been seen walking the 16th Street mall in Denver. Strolling from Market Street Station, all the way to the Capitol buildiing, and back. Taking in the scene, feeling a lot like an Anne Rice character, experiencing the generally theraputic feeling of being out on the street with the cool night breeze rippling over the scene.

Highlights of the journey include: a small street band playing Goo Goo Dolls cover tunes; a man with no front teeth trying to sell cologne; a stop into the Virgin megastore for random browsing (but no buying); a guy, probably in his teens, standing in the middle of the street reading the Bible -- loudly; and a lot of rude drivers on the road.

As I returned to Tobias, I still felt a craving to find a room full of people with loud, pulsating music, but nothing presented itself, so I got in and drove. (JWZ really ought to consider opening more DNA Lounge franchises, preferably with one in the Colorado area.)

I did manage to hear a radio DJ promoting a place not too far from where I was. I took a swing by Market 42, saw a huge crowd outside, weighed my options, took note of my tiredness index, decided against attempting to find parking and get in. I could already feel the pressure behind my eyes, and I didn't feel like drugging myself to stay awake. (Caffeine? Not in the mood. Alcohol? The quantity required to propel myself past sedation would have made it totally unsafe to transport myself home afterwards. Absolutely not.)

I set a course to return to the Castle Lair. Now, here I am, about to plop, typing a quick rambling first for posterity's sake. Sleep, sweet sleep. Life ain't bad at all, except for the loneliness. But if that's the price for being me, I can live with that.
