Tonight brought the event that is the monthly BLUG meeting. Zan Lynx and I went directly from work, to Best Buy, to Boulder (with me taking a brief stop at the ATM on the way; food stamps, hehe). Ate some good grub at Subway, and, in our usual form of late, arrived a few minutes late. (I think part of it has to do with my timing instincts still being attuned to the old NIST location, instead of the new place in the middle of university territory.)
Upon arrival, we found bouncing already in attendance, and took seats next to him. The topic of the evening: copyright and licensing. In case anyone was wondering, Richard Stallman is indeed a genius. Case closed.
Jaeger arrived midway through the gathering, having just recently stepped off a plane from the faraway land of Washington.
After the meeting proper, bouncing split. Jaeger, Zan Lynx, and I hung out and talked, and proceeded to carry on the tradition of journeying to the coffee spot on the hill. The transportation device of choice for this expedition was the stick shift SUV from Jaeger's clan. (I'm sure anyone who knew of the Volvo's existence in the first place already knows that it has gone on to a better place.)
Since the interior was packed with finals takers, we got a nice space in the nippy outdoors. Plenty of room there. Hung out there for a while, and when the crowds began to thin out, we relocated to a table in the warmer area.
Talk of the evening spanned the usual rounds of geeky topics, including a plethora of interesting-sounding scifi authors whose books sounded worth reading, which instilled in me the renewed desire to visit a book store or library again in the near future. Or pick up some of the mostly unread books that are already sitting on my own shelves. (Hmmm....)
As was happening toward the end of the coffee pub experience, Bitscape's brain grows tired. Truly tired. So I shall yield, and go to sleep.
Fade out.
