Yesterday, the landline was installed as scheduled. Today, a test account grabbed from work, a few cables strung together, and Illian (the only box with a modem) connected to the phone jack, and I'm online!
This has certainly been a busy week. Today, we actually got off work several hours early. Some of us went to a late lunch at On the Border (now a mere 2 blocks from my residence), and afterwards, split our separate ways. I was going to get some stuff done this afternoon, but when I walked in the door, the bed looked so inviting that I just went straight down, and stayed there for a couple hours.
Late afternoon, I stopped at the post office to get a change of address form, and went to the Louisville Compound to gather some more stuff. Neither of my parents wanted the tv stand, so I got that, cleaned and dusted it off, and put it with me in Tobias. Sorted through more of my old junk, and ended up making another offering to the god of the landfill. (Turns out the Louisville Compound has made more such offerings than the god is willing to accept lately, so my parents suggested that I start hauling trash with me to throw away in the local dumpster here.)
This evening, I rigged together a makeshift dialup setup, sshed to help Neelix with iptables on Chiana, and met mom and bouncing for dinner at Qdoba. I am seriously beginning to think that engaging in any sort of political discussions whatsoever with other family members is simply a Bad Idea[tm]. I don't feel like elaborating any further on that at the moment.
Now, here I sit, amidst much stuff that still needs to be unpacked and put in its place. I think I'll get a nice big rest tonight, and get my first chance to sleep in at the new place in the morning. And sweet, it will be.
That's about all there is to say right now. My brain is busted. Time to rest.
