Tonight, while other members of the family chose to watch the National Liars Convention (otherwise known by the term "presidential debate"), Bitscape ventured off to the tv in his parents' room (his own still lacks a broadcast connection; attempts at using rabbit ears have not yielded much success, due most likely to the lower elevation of Bitscape's room), where he watched the all new Buffy.
Then, in a break from tradition, Bitscape neglected to watch Angel. Instead, he defected over to Fox, where the 2 hour series premiere of Dark Angel was airing. More Quality Television Programming[tm] for all! (But don't worry, Bitscape had planned ahead, and set the VCR timer to record Angel for later perusal.)
Thoughts on the new show. Well, the first hour seemed slow to me. Heavy on exposition, light on plot. But I guess that's to be expected for a new series, when all the characters must be introduced fresh for the beginning of long term development. It took until the second hour for me to really start getting into it.
Spent most of the show trying to decide whether or not I like this Max character. (The lead; I forget the name of the actress, and don't have a net connection to look it up.) She seemed pretty cool, but able to carry a tv series? I dunno. The jury is still out.
One character I really did like: That guy with the underground pirate Freedom show. You know who I mean if you watched it. Yeah. He was cool.
And that villian dude. (I feel like an idiot trying to talk about characters whose names I can't remember; or the actors either.) Anyway, the commander guy. Him. That could be potential some interesting future developments.
On the not-so-plus side, the style of the show -- the look, the plot, the pacing -- seemed a bit on the conventional, predictable side. Interesting enough to hold the attention, but nothing ground breaking. A slick, relatively high budget production (for tv) that plays it safe, rather being on the edge. That was my impression, anyway.
Well, we'll see. I gotta sleep. I may watch next week, although I might prefer Angel. Angel or Dark Angel? Hmmm. But both shows are cool. Looks like the VCR might be getting another workout. Oh well. Goodnight.
