And the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
Under wandering stars I groan
By myself but not alone
I ask no one

Today, upon arriving home from work, Bitscape finally got going on the project he has been planning for a few eons now: The conversion of his entire music library into electronic format. With the aid of some very handy software he had heard about, he proceeded one step closer to making the dream a reality.

What is that dream? A jukebox that can play non-stop for weeks on end without ever repeating a song. Every piece of music I own being accessible to randomizers, scripts, AI bots, intelligent listening pattern analyzers, database engines, and whatever other joyous schemes I may dream up for fun. And in the space-saving department, I think I'll archive the original discs into the storage closet, and put the immediately accessible shelf space to a better use. Oh yes! Even more surface area to make a big mess of.

Of course, as planned previously, I decided to use the Ogg Vorbis format for compression. Sorry mp3 lovers, but ogg is to mp3 as png is to gif. The mp3 fans who might wish to swap files with me can join the Qwerty typists who try to operate computers I control. Hahaha!

To get of on the right foot, I decided to begin by ripping Metallica's black album. In honor of Lars, of course. :) I figure if I average around 3 cds a day, I might have 'em all done by the end of the year. Maybe. (But don't be too certain about that, cause I really haven't counted recently.) Maybe I should've made that a resolution. Oh well. Hindsight...

On a very distant and loose tangent, that brings us right to the next topic: Tonight's Buffy episode. Xander, you silly, hilarious dude. (I mean both of you.) That whole episode was a riot. Many rotfl's for me. Quality television programming. There.

And then, there was Angel. Yes Angel. Just plain Angel again. Tonight, I decided I was more in the mood for that. Call it the Buffy leadin effect. But I did record the less luminescent heavenly being for later viewing. Somehow, the second season so far (or what I've seen of it -- I still haven't gotten around to viewing last week's tape) seems to have a different tempo than the first. I'm not quite sure how to explain it. It's like... I dunno. Just not throwing the punches with quite the same gusto as before. Then again, I could just be hallucinating. It's hard to put a finger on.

Anyway, tonight's episode was pretty enjoyable. I can't help but wonder how long they're going to keep dangling the spectre of that she-demon (or whatever she is) in front of our noses before getting to the point. Crazy dream infestation. Yes indeed. And Cordy and Gunn.... looks like it could be the beginning of an interesting character interaction. Blah, blah, blah. Yes.

And.... Ever more mysterious folks appearing in the Content Solutions area, and with that, potential problems. Before I go further though, I'd like to make one thing clear: I like more people to contribute to the chat. Lots of characters makes it more fun, and the bigger the party, the merrier, right? It was put there (correct me if I'm wrong on this guys) primarily for the entertainment of the authors and readers of these web pages, and I think it's been lots of fun. So I would personally request that people don't abuse it.

What do I mean by "abuse"? Specifically, in this case, posing as another person. Apparently, it has happened once. (Unless somebody was just joking, but I think that highly unlikely.) I, personally, don't have a problem with others using variations on existing names. Like transposing syllables, or rhyming patterns, or whatever. Just so you're not trying to fool everyone else into thinking you're an already-existing user. If somebody has been chatting under a certain handle, don't use that name to talk unless that person was you. Simple enough? (Therefore, you can be assured that I will never try to pass myself off as ScapeBit, no matter how insulting to my sacred and everlasting honor this hooligan's very appearance may be.)

In other future plans.... well, I do have other future plans... for this web page, for Argo, for the destiny of humanity. But perhaps it would be better not to preannounce them just yet. Yes, I think I'll hold off on that for now.

I need to go to bed. But before I do, I think I'll just stick in another disc to start ripping. Before long, Argo's hard drive will be thriving with .ogg files. Oh yes. The joy of it! In it goes. To bed.
