And thus

We conclude one of the longest weeks in recent memory. (Length not being defined strictly in hours, but in.... well, just being.... long.) Whew!
Strange, because for my part, there really wasn't anything that difficult, time consuming, or otherwise burdensome. In fact, it could even be argued that this was an especially light work week. (Heck, I even got off over an hour early today.)
Obviously, it could be argued that witnessing other coworkers have their "Fridays" many days before might in some way impact perception. Still, I don't think that fully explains the perceived length. Especially toward the end, just... some less than cool vibes happening internally. Now I'm wondering if I really should be looking forward to this upcoming trip, or....
Eh, it's probably not a good idea to start making summary judgements. In fact, it's probably not a good idea to be yackin about this here. But, this is my life, this page documents my life, and things do impact me, however indirectly... And so...
Let's just say that this weekend, I am especially glad it is the weekend, AND that it is a three day weekend, and that maybe, just maybe, we can forget about all that... stuff. For a while.
[A few moments pass, Bitscape starts up some Smashing Pumpkins, types some things into his irc window, then, something happens which causes his stomach to begin to sink.]
Right now, even as I type, my console to Rage is frozen, and the DSL modem is flashing orange. Just like it did when it was down for day, after day, after week, after week. Those idiots had BETTER not be screwing me with this shit again. It BETTER be a temporary fluke. I'm getting on the phone. brb.
[Bitscape spends 20 minutes on the phone with RMI tech, in which we power cycle the router, get into a conference call with a Covad tech, and open a set of now-familiar trouble ticket numbers. Someone from Covad will be dispatched to the CO tonight or tomorrow, at which time it will hopefully return to a working status. Hopefully.]
Oh joy. Well at least things appear to be getting rolling more smoothly and quickly than they did before. I suppose it helps to have been through the procedure in the past. Probably doesn't hurt to be having the conversation while at the console either. The RMI guy actually seemed pretty sharp. Got all the necessary information out of the Covad guy, as well as having him perform a bunch of diagnostics right on the spot. (I got the feeling that if he hadn't pressed, they probably would've just been filed under the ticket and done later.) Cool.
Now, if only the line would come back. Hoping, hoping.
A fest has indeed been scheduled for tomorrow night. Louisville Compound, where the bandwidth abounds. (Up until a few minutes ago, at least.) Hopefully, if what they say about getting it up tonight or tomorrow is true, that will still be the case.
Well, now that this unexpected twist has occured, I think I'll get up, wander around nervously, and maybe get some FOOD. Free your mind.
