Was I sleeping? Had I slept?

I suppose it's time to feed the content vultures again. See, the thing is: when I myself am being such a content vulture, it sometimes leaves less room for feeding the rest of the vultures out there. ;)

Actually though, last night, I was doing much of either. For some reason, I just felt dead tired, and when to bed at 2030, or maybe even earlier. I wasn't exactly watching the clock. Woke up this morning feeling sleepy as ever.

Was I sleeping? Had I slept?

Over the past couple of days, I have been thinking about possible ways to make use of all this wonderful bandwidth. Of course, there's the joys of streaming 128 bit mp3 audio, which I have been enjoying. :)

Then, of course, there's the possibility of setting up a web site. (Which is actually already there now, but its content exactly mirrors -- or, to me more technically correct, is mirrored -- on Rage.) I was thinking it would be cool to do something that I'm not already doing on Rage, like make my entire image collection available with auto-generated thumbnails. But then, of course, one runs into the potential for many a copyright problem. (Not that that's really ever stopped any of us before, but ya know, I'd really rather not get myself into a load of trouble.)

There's also this novel idea called "original content", which some people seem to have figured out. Yes, getting my hands on a digital camera could be fun.

Last night, I was also thinking about getting myself one of those cheap little webcams and putting it in my room. I'm not sure I'm really brave/vain enough to really want to have photographs of my every moment posted for public viewing. It does seem to hold a certain novelty appeal though.

For some reason, I'm finding that continuing this rambling in any kind of cohesive manner is proving to be a major effort. Could that have anything to do with the continuous feed of Madonna videos on the screen less than a meter to my right, or the music from said videos being pumped through the PC speakers in front of me? Nah. No possible correlation. ;)

Methinks I will have to complete that collection with The Immaculate Collection, The Ciao Italia Live DVD, The Girlie Show, and perhaps the Truth or Dare DVD. Then I could not only claim to own every Madonna album release, but every DVD as well. :) Now, if only they'd also come out with Blond Ambition (ya know, the one that was released as laserdisc-ONLY ages ago; not even VHS release), then we'd be set. :)

Here's a side tangent. History as Bitscape understands it: Back in 89-90, Madonna was all set to have Pepsi lined up as the major sponsor for the Blond Ambition tour. She had filmed a tv ad for them and everything, they were going to fund the concert, and everyone was going to get rich off of it and be happy. In fact, the unveiling of ad itself was hyped as a major event.

But then, the real version of the video itself was released, complete with the burning crosses, the depiction of fornication with a saint, and the racially charged themes. Of course, the right wing, Pat Roberson-esque wackos went ballistic, and threatened to boycott Pepsi. The Pepsi execs, being the cowards that they were, caved, and the commercial never aired again after its initial premiere. But not until Madonna had walked away with a cool million (or was it five?). :)

Ok, now what's not to admire here? Anybody who can simultaniously do their part to piss off the religous right, expose the corporate marketing weenies for the fools that they are, and emerge from all of it with a big pile of cash is somebody ya gotta lookup to. Ya just gotta! :)

But anyway, that left her without funding for the tour, so she and her entourage had to really scramble. They were lucky it even happened at all. But they did find Panasonic as a reluctant sponsor. Stipulation: Panasonic was pusing laserdisc as the next "standard" at the time, so in order to get their support, the release HAD to be on laserdisc only. No VHS version was ever published, despite intense fan demand. How's that for crazy?

Ok, that was that little story. How did I manage to get so off-topic? As if there was a topic to begin with. Anyway...

I watched most of Fight Club again tonight. Well, I started off as just planning to review one scene, where Jack meets Tyler in the airplane, but you know how that goes. Terrible, aren't I? No restraint whatsoever. None.

I suppose I had better get a bit of sleep, given the big day ahead tomorrow. If all goes as planned, Bitscape will have his second sushi experience. Oh goodie! More dead sea creatures! This time, I think I shall attempt to avoid ordering any entrees featuring the heads of something-or-other with the eyeballs intact. Should be fun. :)
