Went and saw Titan A.E. with a few friends tonight (I'm sure anybody who reads this obscure little "group" of web pages will probably be able to figure out which friends these were by surfing around a bit. Wait a sec! Half the readers were there themselves (I mean authors. But authors... readers. What's the difference when it comes to us anyway?)) An enjoyable movie.

The rendering was some of the most impressive I've seen in a while. Maybe ever. Some awesome, awesome shots in there. A lot of the externals were simply breathtaking.

The animation for all the characters was totally traditional. Maybe a notch above your typical Saturday morning cartoon, but not a big one. I found the juxtapositioning of the animated characters -- obviously drawings -- over the all-computer rendered backgrounds slightly disconcerting at times, although not a big obstacle to enjoyment of the movie.

The story, while highly conventional, and totally predictable at just about every turn, was engaging. It kept me interested the whole time, despite the fact that I could correctly predict several minutes in advance what was about to happen on multiple occassions.

LOVED those visuals though! If space, scifi-ish stuff is your thing, and you enjoy some good looking space battles, or are into supurbly rendered graphics, this is one to check out.
