lol. Gotta love this "Read it" stuff. Oh yes. And now, a weekend comes once again. This week at work seemed especially short, probably because it was. :)
Aw heck, the last few months have just gone by in a flash. It seems like it wasn't so long ago that February was beginning, and I was starting work at eSoft. Then March came and went just as quickly. And April... conventions, new car, and then May. More insanity. Zap. It's June. Unbelievable.
Today, a coworker reminded me that my car is in desperate need of a wash, which I have been aware of, but just haven't gotten around to doing. It also needs real license plates, which, not for lack of trying, I have been unable to do anything about. My hopeful visit to the county clerk last week was answered only with "the dealer hasn't sent in the registration info yet; come back on June 6 (the expiration date) if we haven't sent you a notification by then, and we'll give you another temporary." Not the answer I wanted to hear, of course.
So, this morning, I called the dealership to find out what the deal is. The registration was sent certified mail on May 31st. So they have acted, they just took forever to do it. If all goes well, I should be able to pick up my stuff on Monday. Crossing fingers...
In other funky news of the day, I saw a very old friend for the first time in a long time. Yes, it would seem that yet another member of the BJA Alumni Mafia is seeking a job at eSoft. Anyway, that was cool. He didn't even recognize me at first (not terribly surprising, given not only the amount of time that has elapsed, but also what I did with my hair just last weekend). That brings back the memories. And of course, we discussed computer developments, our hardware setups, programming languages. All that fun stuff. Funny how we both independently somehow managed to end up walking a similar path... From DOS to Debian. lol. Well, I suppose a lot of us have walked that path. ;)
Yadda yadda. After work, I arrived home and almost immediately fell asleep on the bed. Funny how a beer will do that to ya. A sweet sleep it was, as if the blue pill had dissolved and permeated my bloodstream and nervous system completely. A dreamful sleep. :)
Upon waking up, I decided it was time to do some laundry. But of course, I got distracted for a while, watching scenes from The Matrix again. My initial plan was simply to confirm the exact wording of one of Agent Smith's lines. But you know how it goes. You start watching, and just want to keep watching, and just when you think you've reached a good stopping point, something grabs your attention and makes you keep going. I ended up watching chapters 6 through 13.
I finally got my laundry going, and now I'm thinking it might be good to get something to eat.
Oh, BTW, I did watch The Wall last night. That's just an amazing work. Yes, it's dark and depressing. Duh. :) I get peeved at these people who write these online reviews and complain because the movie's tone is too "negative", or the images too "disturbing". That's the way it's SUPPOSED to be, people! If you don't like it, go watch a Disney movie instead.
(And I'll deflect any accusations of hypocracy from readers who might point out that long, long ago, when I reviewed a movie titled "8mm", I made very similar remarks. And how will I deflect them? By pointing it out first, as I just did. ;) Neener neener neener. You can't get me now. Heeheehee.)
Well, given that the fridge is fairly empty at the moment, perhaps I'll take a brief trip to the drivethru to get some nourishment. My theory for what might happen this weekend is that I'll camp out here in my room, watch DVD's, do some improvements to the web page (gotta hate the lack of contrast on those movielog links -- driving me nuts.), and possibly even venture out to meet up with a few friends. We'll see.
Rock over London. Rock on Chicago. Gatorade: Is it in you?
