In all likelihood, this will be the last rambling ever to be entered using the legacy engine.

Last night, I wandered into the geek commune (virtually speaking of course) in search of Jaeger. It didn't take me very long to find him, given that he was right at his console, despite showing an enormous idle time (which I later learned was because his terminal app didn't have the s bit set, so it wasn't making an entry in the utmp).

Of course, my primary reason for contacting him was to see if he could get my account on Rage back up and running, since I was already worried that I had lost any email during the days it was down. (If anyone is reading this who tried to send me something between Monday and Thursday, send it again. It should get through this time.)

Given the numerous unexpected mishaps that occured during the transition, Jaeger appeared to have his hands full trying to get everything configured back to almost normal.

It turned out that somebody (not naming any names, although I probably should) had already created an account for me, and not bothered to say anything about it. Which would have been fine, except that it was with a totally non-standard login name which had apparently been arbitrarily dreamed up out of thin air. lol.

At my request, Jaeger quickly set things back to normal, and all was well. Of course, we then got to chatting, one thing led to another, and before long, a fest was underway. Strange how that happens.

So anyway, while Jaeger worked to get the shattered mess that had once been x13 back together, I decided to try and get the final pieces of the Bitscape's Lounge 2 engine completed. My goal was to have some kind of working prototype by morning. I didn't quite get there, but everything is now awfully damn close to falling into place.

Most of my time was spent finishing the user authentication routines, as well as filling in various gaps in other modules that I had left unfinished or overlooked during previous coding sessions. Now, it's going to be a matter of fitting all the pieces together into some kind of cohesive interface.

To finish the night, I put up a short page to replace the "Internal Server Error" with an announcement that an alpha version of 2.0 will be posted at midnight. I believe I can make that self-imposed deadline.

After that, I think I'll spend about 48 hours in a hybernation tank before the first big day at eSoft on Monday.
