Calm those nerves

So, today I went and had the big interview with eSoft. Despite having gotten out of there over an hour ago, right now, my nerves still seem more fired up than ever. Perhaps that Sobe I drank an hour before decided to hold its full effect until after the interview. Or, more likely, my anticipation is just getting the best of me.
Ok, so I did the whole dress up thing. (Well, for me it was dressing up. Some people would probably consider it casual. Oh well.) By the time I was in the car on the way to the place, the light-headed, mildly queasy stomach started. All to be expected. This is normal for an important job interview, right? Did I mention that I really, really want this job? (A fact which has become even more the case now that I've been inside the place, met the people, etc etc.)
I took the most direct route to the company, having scouted out the slightly slower but easier to understand way from the freeway the prior evening. With virtually no traffic on the way, I arrived a bit early, which is a good idea anyway, if the tips I read are to be trusted.
After informing the receptionist of my presence, I sat and read an ecommerce magazine that was sitting in their lobby as I waited a few brief moments for the interviewer(s) to emerge. Nervousness index was so high that my eyes parsed, but comprehended nothing of what I was reading.
The interview itself... Well, I think it went relatively well, all things considered. Talked to two people. Both really casual, friendly, fellow Linux enthusiasts, people I think I'd enjoy working with. Their directed questions gave me a pretty good opportunity to demonstrate my competence at programming and using Linux, which was good, cause if somebody just sits down and says, "tell me everything you know how to do", I think I would be dead meat just trying figure out where to start. I was a slightly stumped in a couple places, but still, not too bad overall, I think.
I also learned that I wasn't the only one who's been doing a little information gathering. I came in with a small bit of knowledge about their product line, gleaned from the web site. :) In turn, the people I was talking to had visited this page, as well as some of the other pages from the festing family. (I hadn't volunteered the url in initial communications, deciding it would be more prudent to keep personal pages personal during initial stages of contact. Hah!) Well, the guy I talk to seemed more amused than anything, which is good I suppose. :)
During the tour of the company, which comprised the last portion of the meeting, I also had a rather unexpected surprise. It turns out one of the employees is somebody I've known since ancient times (and I do mean ancient, as in somebody I've known since.... well, since the dawn of time, practically. We're talking first house in the mountains days. Like early childhood. Yeah.)
So I briefly went around and was introduced to the other people in the department, who all seemed pretty cool, if one can tell such things based on a handshake and "hello".
So now, it's a matter of wait and see. And keep my fingers crossed really tight. Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope... Well, now I just have to wait until next week, at which time I'll either get called back in for more interviews, or not. If I thought my anticapation was nuts before the interview, it's an order of magnitude higher now. Mostly, I think, because I can now so much see how much I want to work there, having actually been inside the place. Hope hope hope. Well, it's wait and see. I'm gonna go try getting something to eat, and then perhaps a then see if movie can do anything to distract my overly excited brain. Maybe. Peace.
