I have a proposal to make to Madonna. (No, not that kind! At least not yet...) I believe she should be commissioned to author the first book of The Modern Testament of The Holy Bible. After all, every age has had its prophets, wise men, and disciples contributing to this great work. Why not ours? Since Madonna has clearly demonstrated that she is the spiritual leader of the modern world, she should be the one to permanently inscribe our culture's signature in this great book.

Of course, the content would be entirely up to her judgement, but since she is always willing and apt to take suggestions, I have a few to contribute. First, I think she should include lyrics from selected songs written by her. Possibilities include: Rain, Like A Virgin, Live To Tell, Secret, Oh Father, You'll See, and Bad Girl, as well as a host of other candidates. She could also include profound statements she has made on the spur of the moment at various points in her life. There are so many of these that I will not even attempt to list any of them for fear that the list may consume my entire hard drive.

Although initially church leaders would no doubt reject such a proposal and call it blasphemy, eventually they would come around to seeing things her way, although it may not be within her lifetime. Therefore, Madonna should write the book now and keep copies of it in secret vaults around the world, for fear that book burners may attempt to, as they have tried to do in the past with The Bible we know today, destroy it before it has become an established work of religous literature.

Madonna, if you're out there listening, please take this into consideration. Spend some time thinking about it, and realize that the future of the world will be greatly brightened if you choose to leave your legacy in this manner. Future generations would be able to rely on your wisdom and experience, and the eternal course of the universe would be forever altered.
