Somewhat normal againSubmitted: Thursday, April 8, 1999 23:32Now that I've spent a few hours playing Magic, doing some quality surfing, and gone for a nice .65 hour walk, things are feeling relatively normal again (whatever that is), despite the awful odor still permeating the dorm. I spent over an hour reading tbe beginning of the Jargon File. Just the introductory stuff -- which is as much as I got through -- is fascinating. It's wonderful to read about the origins of modern Internet/hacker culture. As well as being better informed, I feel a new level of appreciation for the wise and resourceful founders of this territory. I was going to babble about the effects of rock concerts on preferred volume levels of portable audio devices while taking walks, but I feel more like reading the Jargon File for a while. |
