Before going to see The Truman Show, I had read several glowing reviews praising the movie's originality and Jim Carrey's exceptional acting. They were right. Not only was Carrey's acting outstanding, but everything about this movie is top-notch.

Truman's home town vaguely resembles something out of a Tim Burton movie. It's perfect, too perfect, with immaculate little white houses arranged succinctly along a street that looks like it came out of an amusement park.

Everything in Truman's life is contrived to entertain the millions of fans who tune in continuously, but without his knowledge. Camera's are positioned in his house, his car, his job, the news stand he visits daily; everywhere he goes, Truman is in the spotlight.

Jim Carrey, with this movie, has demonstrated that he can do more than make us laugh at his hilarious antics. The reviews are not joking. This movie stands out as one of the best.
